Bengaluru: CCBI appoints new officials for Migrants, Ecology, SCC commissions

Bengaluru, May 10: The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) appointed the following priests, Fr Jaison Vadassery (49), Fr Joshua D’Souza (37) and Fr George Jacob, SAC (54) as executive secretaries to the CCBI Commissions for Migrants, Ecology and Small Christian Communities. The appointments were made at the 82 executive
committee meeting held on May 7, here.

Fr Jaison Vadassery is from the archdiocese of Verapoly and currently the secretary to the International Catholic Migrant Commission (ICMC) and the office of Labour, CBCI. He was born on May 30 and ordained priest on January 26, 1996. He holds a master’s degree in social work (MSW), a bachelor’s degrees in law (LLB) and arts (BA). He was the associate director of the Ernakulam Social Service Society (ESSS) of the archdiocese of Verapoly, a visiting faculty member of St Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, secretary to the Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council’s (KCBC) Labour and Migrant Commission and director of the Kerala Labour Movement (KLM).

Fr Joshua D’Souza is from the archdiocese of Mumbai and currently the principal of Our Lady of Lourdes School and Junior College, Kalyan, Mumbai. He was born on August 30, 1982 in Mumbai and ordained priest on April 6, 2013 for the archdiocese of Bombay. He holds a master’s degree in Commerce (MCom), a bachelor’s degree in education (BEd) and law (LLB). He served the archdiocese of Mumbai as secretary to the Commission for Justice and Peace, assistant parish priest at St John Baptist Church, Thane and Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kalyan.

Fr George Jacob Palackaparambil, SAC belongs to the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Fathers) of Prabhu Prakash Province, Nagpur. He was born on February 15, 1965 at Kanjirathanam, in the diocese of Palai and ordained priest on May 4, 1990. He holds an MTh from JDV Pune. He served as parish priest in the archdioceses of Agra, Thrissur and Delhi as well as the diocese of Indore. Currently, he works as director of the Pallottine Animation Centre, Nagpur and joint Secretary to NST for SCCs.
