Mangaluru: Plenary UISG meet held in Rome

Mangaluru, May 11: The 12th plenary UISG (international union of Superior Generals) meeting was held in Rome from May 6 to 10.

820 partipants from 80 countries reflected upon the theme 'Sowers of Prophetic Hope'. Of these, 32 were from India and an equal number of Indians are based abroad.
Sr Rose Celine B S and Sr Susheela UFS from Mangaluru were privileged to attend it.

At the end of the conference, the members committed themselves to protect the environment, minors and vulnerable adults, address issue of migrants, work for anti-
human trafficking, build intercultural communities and promote interreligious dialogue depending upon the country's priority.

On May 10 H E Cardinal Aviz celebrated the eucharist at St Peter's Basilica.

Pope Francis inaugurated the campaign 'Talitha Kum', an international network of consecrated life for anti human trafficking on its decinnial celebration and applauded the humanitarian work of women religious and addressed issues raised by religious heads while the president of UISG Sr Carmen Sammut shared the dais.
