Madikeri: Two drown in Chiklihole reservoir backwaters

Madikeri, May 13: Two persons who went to bathe in the backwaters of Chiklihole reservoir near here drowned on Sunday May 12.

The deceased have been identified as Pavan (19), son of Sagadeva from School Bane at Kodagarahalli near Suntikoppa and Nadeesh (16), son of Subrahamni from Kambibane village.

Both had ventured into the reservoir at the backside of Magdoor temple. A woman who saw that both of them were struggling for life and facing grave danger and were drowning, shouted for help. Locals, Santosh, Sudhi, Devaraj and Avaraj tried to save them with the help of a raft but their efforts failed. Later, they succeeded in retrieving both the bodies.

Suntkoppa station house officer, Jayaram and staff visited the spot and registered a case. Postmortem was conducted at Kushalnagar government hospital.
