Mangaluru, May 29: "This holiday camp has sharpened your talents. You should be like a glowing star when you shine because of this light. You should know the importance of language and culture and put in your efforts to save and nurture it," said NRI entrepreneur James Mendonca.

James was speaking as the chief guest at the valedictory function of 'Kajulo' children's holiday camp at the auditorium of St Joseph Drama Association in the city that was organized by the Jeppu Parishioners' Association on Tuesday, May 28.

Matilda Pinto, owner of Balmatta Medicals, who was the honorary guest of the function distributed the certificates and books to the children who took part in the camp.

Nisha Aranha (singing), Audrin Fernandes (dance) and Riana Menezes (drama), who were selected as the best campers in the respective section were awarded Rs 2,000 in cash. Elvis Lobo, who was selected as the best camper was honoured with a prize money of Rs 3,000.

Blenon Cemento, Sonia D'Souza, Joshua Toras and Nikita Bennis shared their experiences of the camp.

The director of the camp Eric Ozario and trainers Victor Mathias, Jaison Sequeira, Vikas Kalakul, Rahul Pinto, Velany Goveas, Flavia Rodrigues, Jason Lobo, Deyal D'Souza and Russel Rodrigues were felicitated by the president of the organization Wilson Baptist.

Treasurer Sweety Sequeira, Jasmine Morera, Gladys and Keerthi Sequeira were present on the occasion. Secreatary Satish Fonseca rendered the vote of thanks.

The children who participated in the camp presented dance, singing and short drama 'Amka Illen Aika'.

This camp was inaugurated by Fr William Barokas, retired priest of Jeppu origin, on May 20. The present priest Fr Clifford Fernandes had visited the camp and blessed the participants.

The stage programme was compered by Cleeta Noronha. The cultural programme was compered by Audrin Fernandes and Elvis Lobo.
