Udupi, May 29: An accident which happened at Ontibettu within the limits of Hiriadka police station limits on Tuesday May 28, claimed the life of a woman.
The victim, identified as Varija, was returning home by autorickshaw after treatment by an ophthalmologist when the accident happened. She was accompanied by her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in the autorickshaw. A car which approached them from the opposite direction hit the three-wheeler causing it to overturn thereby injuring Varija seriously. She breathed her last on the way to a hospital.
Varija's son, Satyanarayana, daughter-in-law, Shylaja and granddaughter, Srushti also suffered injuries. Auto driver, Asif, escaped from danger. The car in question also hit a motor bike and tempo which were following the autorickshaw.
Hiriadka police have registered a case and have launched investigation.
