Bengaluru, May 29: A person identified as Robin (32) was killed by dropping a boulder on his head even as his wife looked on in a building at Pattegarapalya here. The murder happened during late night hours on Monday May 27.

Robin, a rag picker by profession, had married a girl named Meena two months back. Shah Rukh Khan alias Tanveer Khan (25) who was trying to have illicit relationship with Meena happens to be the murderer of Robin, the police said.

Robin and Meena knew each other since many years. They loved each other, and married at a temple. As they did not have their own house, they used to stay in footpaths or multi-storied under construction buildings.

Shah Rukh, who took up the profession of rag picking recently, had befriended Robin. He was making an effort to have an affair with Meena. Robin who came to know of his overtures, had driven away Shah Rukh. Still, the accused used to reach the spot where the couple stayed and trouble them, the police added.

The couple had slept on a footpath at Pattegarapalya on Monday night. The accused went there and began to behave in an unwarranted way with Meena. This gave rise to fight. Frustrated by this development, the couple left the place and went to a nearby multi-storied building where they slept on the upper storey. Shah Rukh reached there late night, and dropped a boulder on Robin's head, killing him instantly. His wife, who was terrified at this development, reached the road and raised an alarm. By the time police on night patrol reached the spot, the killer had fled, it is gathered.

Cases had been registered against both Shah Rukh and Robin in the past too in Vijayanagar police station relating to petty cases. Both have criminal background, the police said.
