Bengaluru, May 31: Some fraudsters who promised a youth of securing employment in Canada, robbed him of four thousand dollars. The victim happens to be Vincent (31) from Ejipura here.

On he basis of complaint filed by him, Upparpet police have registered case against accused identified as Puneet, Mohit, Kiran and others.

During March this year, Vincent and Puneet had become friends on Facebook. Puneet said he can bag an employment for Vincent in Canada and gave a cellphone number said to belong to a person named Mohit. He said that Mohit can help in securing job in Canada. When this mobile number was contacted the receiver said that a job can be arranged subject to payment of 6,000 dollars. Vincent trusted in this claim, pledged ornaments of his wife and mother-in-law and got 6,000 dollars by exchanging the cash he had at Koramangala.

When he called Mohit on May 25, he was told that he can transact with a man named Kiran who would meet him. Kiran called him next day and asked to come to Lavanya lodge in Gandhinagar here. Vincent went there on May 25 with brother, Sebastian and called Kiran. Kiran came with a girl, booked room in the name of Sebastian, and asked them to get seated inside the room. They gave juice to drink after which Vincent fell unconscious. Sebastian vomitted. Sebastian then called friends on phone and got admitted into a hospital with their help. After getting up at 7.30 pm that day, Vincent found that four thousand dollars he had in his possession had been taken away and two thousand dollars which Sebastian was having was intact.

On the basis of he complaint, the police have begun investigation. They have verified CCTV footage and expressed hope of arresting the culprits soon.
