Bengaluru, Jun 1: Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy who lost the Mandya Lok Sabha seat to actor-turned-politician Sumalatha Ambareesh took ‘responsibility’ for the defeat.

Amidst reports that not all is going well in JD(S) supremo, H D Deve Gowda’s family after the defeat in Mandya, Nikhil took to Facebook to clarify. "As a JD(S) candidate, I am responsible for my party's defeat from Mandya in this election. I will not blame anybody for it. Instead of giving explanation for trailing in the election, I take the entire responsibility for the defeat.”

He also assured the voters in Mandya who supported him that he will serve them and asked Sumalatha to help farmers suffering due to drought as the Centre has made them run from pillar to post.

"Since the party which supported you (Sumalatha) is ruling at the Centre, may you succeed in your effort to avail the benefits of central schemes to the people of Mandya," Nikhil wrote in his post.

Nikhil congratulated the four Karnataka MPs who were inducted in the union cabinet and thanked his party workers who toiled for him during the election campaign.
