Canara Catholics Fujairah Celebrates Fourth Anniversary

Fujairah, Apr 27: Canara Catholics Fujairah (CCF) celebrated its fourth Annual Function on Friday April 24 at the Fujairah Club.

The programme started with a short prayer by Master Abel D’Silva. A welcome dance was presented by Avita Dias. Melwin Vas the well-known compere of the region took charge of the event, compering both in Konkani and English. He kept the crowd live and active till the end with his witty questions and innovative games.

Roy Veigas, the young and dynamic president of CCF welcomed the whole gathering. He expressed his gratitude to all the committee members for their selfless support.

The parish priest of the Fujairah Church Fr Stanley was the guest of honour. He delivered a beautiful message of sincerity and love. He thanked all the members of CCF for their support and active participation in the church activities.

A Hindi dance was presented by Avrel, which was choreographed by Ludy Rebello. The famous Tulu dance ‘ekka-sakka’ performed by Sharon Vas and Jenissa Fernandes mesmerized the crowd.

The sponsors of the event were honored by Roy Veigas and Antony D’Silva as Shanthi Fernandes called them on to the stage. Lancy Dantis, who collected the maximum amount of sponsorship, was honored with a gift by Vincent Barboza.

Various games for the children and adults were conducted. The crowd enjoyed dancing on the floor till the end as DJ Rolan played the foot-tapping music.

The novelty auction witnessed a tough but healthy fight between the people of Fujairah, Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Finally Arthur Sequeira from Abu Dhabi won the bid by quoting the maximum.

Loads of prizes were given away during the novelty dance and raffle draw. Everyone enjoyed the delicious buffet.

The stage arrangement was ably managed by Prakash Mascarenhas, Vincent Barboza and Reshma D’Souza. Gretta Dias proposed vote of thanks.

    I am happy to go through the Pictoral report of the Fourth Annual Function of CCF. A recent unit has no doubt achieved great heights. I do recall the pioneering leadership of Mr. Melwin Vas and others. I wish CCF all the best.
