Mangaluru: World Cup cricket betting - One held, items seized

Mangaluru, Jun 21: Police personnel of Barke station here arrested a youngster on the allegation of his involvement with gambling in the form of world cricket betting. They also confiscated cash and other things worth Rs 1.15 lac from his possession from near a house in Mission Compound, Boloor here.

Sudesh (26), resident of Boloor Mission Compound, was taken into custody. Cellphone and Rs 90,000 in cash were among the things seized from him.

Barke police had got reliable information that the accused collected money from the people and got involved with illegal cricket betting business. For this purpose, he used Cricket Exchange mobile app relating to the one-day international match between South Africa and New Zealand at England.

The raid was conducted by Barke police sub-inspector Rajaram and other staff under the guidance of the city central sub-division assistant commissioner of police Sudheer Hegde and Barke police inspector P A Suraj.
