Mumbai, Jun 30: In a tragic incident that took place on Wednesday, a 23 year old woman jumped in front of a moving train in Khar station with her two-year-old son. The woman was killed in the incident however her two year old kid survived and is recovering. As reported in TOI, at around 8.35 pm on Wednesday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) was informed about two persons being knocked down by a train between Khar and Bandra station.

When the police reached the spot, they found the woman and the child were severely injured. Both of them were immediately taken in an ambulance to nearby Bhabha Hospital at Bandra. The child survived the accident but the woman was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said, during investigation they found a cell phone number in the woman's possession. The number belonged to a lady named Vandana Singh who is a social worker. Vandana was asked to come down to the Bandra GRP chowky and on arrival she was shown photographs of the woman and her child. Vandana identified the woman as Sabina Shah and the kid was her son Aman Ali. Sabina, her husband and Aman stayed in an apartment in Govandi and apparently the husband and wife would have frequent marital disputes and had also undergone counselling.

Sabina's husband committed suicide a week ago at their flat in Govandi and after the incident, she along with her kid moved to her parents' house in Vakola. Police did not find any suicide note and said Sabina could have taken this drastic step because of depression. A case of accidental death has been recorded by Bandra GRP and the baby will be handed over to his grandparents once he is discharged from the hospital.
