Mangaluru: Chembugudde murder happened because victim refused to leave home

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jul 5: It is learnt that Rajesh (37), son of Lalita, residing opposite Thokkottu Chembugudde Daivasthana, murdered his mother's elder brother's son Narayana (45) as Narayana, who had settled down in his father's sister's home, refused to leave even after Rajesh asked him to. Rajesh wanted Naryana to live elsewhere as he was proposing to marry soon.

Ullal police said that they had taken Rajesh into custody on Wednesday night and that he has confessed to the murder.

Lalita lived in the house belonging to her with her two children and nephew, Narayana, since the last 25 years. Rajesh had decided to marry this year. As such, he had asked Narayana to shift his accommodation but Narayana was adamant at not leaving the home. He stood his ground and said he would live at Chembugudde. Rajesh and Narayana had skirmishes on this issue often. This issue cropped up between them again on Wednesday, culminating in the murder of Narayana, it is gathered.

Rajesh

Rajesh, who worked in a port at Gujarat, used to come home once in three months by availing leave. This time too he was on a visit when the murder happened. Rajesh, who is unmarried, was well-behaved and friendly. He was not involved with any illegal activity so far. Narayana, who too was unmarried, worked for a truck transporting stones.

A local, Praveen Shetty, filed complaint of murder duly naming Rajesh.

It is said that after murdering Narayana, Rajesh washed the machete he used for killing Narayana, and inserted it in the hand of Narayana. He too had bath and sat inside his home as if everything was normal, by trying to project that it was a case of suicide. The neighbours feel that Rajesh would have killed Narayana in a fit of rage after he kicked Lalita in her waist.

When the police came, Rajesh was sitting by the side of the mortal remains of Narayana. He said that Narayana was inside the house, was husking coconuts and that he later saw that Narayana had killed himself. The police, who took Rajesh into custody on the basis of suspicion, got to know the truth after sustained questioning.

It was not at all needed to kill his uncle. If he wanted to marry could have done and take wife where he is working ,or made a seperate home .Killed person too should have respected his wish and moveout,as he is working .such things should be thought earlier not when too late is.Sticking to your sisters house is not good .As a grown up man should unerstand he is in sisters house ,and her son wanted to marry.well everything is now gone complete out of the hand .Sister should have put him out earlier.Rajesh has to spend his years in prison instead of marriage and house.when uncle didnt want to move could go to a village elder and discuss the matter .sad for both.

Rajesh is 37. Agree, its already late to get married but, Narayana is 45 and not married ? Why was he allowed to stay in his niece's house ? That too, since 25 years ? Shouldn't the family elders have settled Narayana with a suitable match so that issues like what happened now won't arise ?

Will killing his cousin help Rajesh in getting married ? Now, he will spend the rest of his life in prison. Very unfortunate, indeed.

It seems Narayana kicked lalita , Rajesh s mother..At that time in a fit of rage he might have killed narayana.I am not justifying murder but if somebody kicks your mother then any son will react strongly.I really feel sorry for rajesh.
