Washington, Jul 9: On Monday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, criticized President Trump for wanting to add the question regarding the citizenship in the census survey of 2020. This was looked as means to ‘make America white again’, according to the Pelosi.

The question such as this would result in several immigrants not submitting their census forms. The structure of the question aims at asking whether the person is a citizen of the United States or not. The respondent will be given five options which range from being born in US to being a naturalized citizen.

In America, census is conducted every 10 years to estimate the number of seats every state is allotted in the US house of Representatives. In the event there is an undercount of immigrants, a major impact can be caused on the representation of states like New York and California.

Pelosi, stated that the question was rather rude and disgraceful and was meant to single out immigrants. The US Supreme Court had also ruled against President Trump, however, Trump is looking for an executive order for the inclusion of the question in the census.
