Mangaluru: Free health camp organized at Talapady

Mangaluru, Jul 22: Sinchana Mahasangha, Talapady which comes under the aegis of CODP® Mangaluru; Maria Jyothi SHG, Narla; The directorate of Rural Health Care and Development Center, Yenepoya Deralakatte; Mariashram Church, Talapady and Catholic Saba, Mariashram on July 21 jointly organized a free medical camp at Mariashram church hall.

Around 207 people attended the health camp and availed various medical facilities offered there.

The programme began with a prayer song by Sinchana Mahasangha members. Anitha, Maria Jyothi SHG, Narla welcomed the guests and the other participants.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Fr Edwin Mascarenhas, parish priest of Mariashram Church, Talapady. Fr Vincent D'Souza, designate director of CODP was the chief guest. Other dignitaries on the dais were Dr Shrinivas representing Yenepoya Hospital, Deralakatte; Vanitha, member of Sichana Mahasangha; Flavy, member of Maria Jyothi SHG and Antony, president Catholic Saba Mariashram Church, Talapady.



Dr Shrinivas explained the importance of regular health checkups and encouraged the people to avail the various facilities offered whenever such health camps are organized. Several people who attended the camp underwent general checkups and were given prescribed medication immediately. 83 people were also given spectacles free of cost.

Francis of Catholic Saba, Mariashram compered the programme and Antony, president Catholic Saba; proposed the vote of thanks.

Vani Raj, animator of CODP was ably assisted by other SHG members in making the programme a success.
