Mumbai, Jul 24: On Tuesday an 18-year-old lad was spotted trying to commit suicide from the Bandra-Worli sea link. The teenager was stopped from this devastating act by a security guard and a cab driver.

According to a statement by Worli police, the security guard, stationed at the sea link road, pulled the teenager back before he could jump into the sea. The teenager reportedly migrated from Vadodara to Mumbai in 2017 after a squabble with his parents. He was making a living by working in a cloth shop.

On Tuesday morning, the teenager hired a taxi from Worli-Koliwada to travel to Bandra. Nearing the sea link, the teenager asked the cab driver to halt for a moment as he felt nauseous. To his dismay, the driver refused, causing the teenager to jump out of the cab. On seeing this, the cab driver raised an alarm for help and alerted the security guard.

Following the incident, the teenager was admitted to Bhabha Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment. When an inquiry in this case began, the police found that in 2017, the teen’s family had filed a kidnapping case with the local police station. The police said that the teen missed his parents and was homesick.

“His parents are on their way to Mumbai. We have not registered any case yet,” said Sukhal Varpe, senior police inspector.
