Mumbai: 700 corroded streetlight poles to be replaced by BEST

Mumbai, Jul 25: Over 700 streetlight poles were found to be in terrible conditions, following a survey which was conducted in accordance with public safety.

Although BEST officials have not given an appropriate reason for the state of the streetlight poles, it was found that these poles may have been corroded and therefore, could be hazardous to the public if not replaced in due time.

The officials of BEST are looking for immediate replacement of the damaged poles placed all over the city. Some areas where the poles need to be replaced are; Fort, Mumbai Central, Chinchpokli, Parel, Sion to name a few.

The old poles will be replaced with the ones, the BEST have in stock. A proposal is already on hold which involved in acquiring 5,800 poles for an amount Rs 4.8 crore.
