Mumbai, Jul 26: A 43-year-old media professional named Dusange, from here ended up receiving several condolence filled messages on his phone while he was vacationing with his family.

The man initially ignored the texts sensing it may stop, but to his fear the messages kept flooding in for many days. On finding the reason for the same, the victim’s brother forwarded him a message, which included his picture and a message saying that Dusange had passed away.

Dusange’s family received close to 400 messages and calls by people expressing their grief on his death. The virality of the news worried Dusange as he figured it would make its way to his sick mother, who may not be able to bear the loss of her son. Dusange approached the Dahisar Police and filed a complaint to put a stop on the virality of the message. However, seeing the message was still being circulated, Dusange felt that his complaint was not received seriously.

Meanwhile, Dusange is reaching out to his friends and relatives to reassure them of his good health. The case as odd as it seems is not the first case documented in India, such cases have occurred earlier as well and were tried under section 66A of the IT Act, but over passage of time they got struck down by the Supreme Court.
