Mumbai, Jul 27: Since Friday, Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rainfall which has caused waterlogging in several parts of the city and suburbs. It is reported that Mahalaxmi Express has been stuck with 2,000 passengers and the Divisional Railway manager of Central Railways has asked the rescue teams to arrive on Badlapur and Wangani route for immediate rescue operations. Due to the heavy rain, seventeen inbound flights were diverted from the Mumbai airport on Friday, according to airport authorities.

Seven trains have been cancelled today and nine have been diverted. "We request passengers of Mahalaxmi Express not to get down from the train. Train is a safe place. Staff, RPF and City Police are in the train to look after you. Please wait for advice from NDRF and other disaster management authorities," Central Railways' chief PRO advised.

(India Meteorological Department) IMD has already issued an orange alert and urged the authorities to be alert and ready to take necessary action. As per sources, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has already moved into the city. “Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts, while extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Palghar district,” an IMD official told PTI.

The weather department has predicted intermittent rain with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in the city and the suburbs.
