Mumbai, Jul 28: The brutal monsoon effect caused a severe blow on Kalyan-Murbad road. The extreme rainfall washed out the Murbad side of Rayta bridge.

The bridge is on Ulhas river, which since past few days because of the severe rainfall is facing flood like phenomenon, especially for areas situated at low levels. The bridge area was inaccessible for a long time owing to the rains, but the horror came to light once the rains settled and the water level came down.

On Sunday, motorists observed that the Rayta bridge was washed out, especially the Murbad side of it. The people reported the same to the Titwala police and Thane disaster management arrived at the spot immediately.

For now, the area is sealed off to carry out repairs. According to an official, with the repairs being undertaken, people will be required to take an alternate route, mostly Titwala via Ambivli.
