Mumbai: Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha celebrates Journalist’s Day

Mumbai, Jul 29: Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangha celebrated Journalist’s Day at Lotus auditorium, Solitary Corporate Park, Andheri east on Sunday morning July 28.

Karnataka media academy president, Dr Padmaraja Dandavathi lit the lamp and set the programme in motion. “Newspaper readers do not know the hardship of those who run the newspaper. It is quite a challenge to run newspapers in today’s competitive era. I felt glad to see the enthusiastic programme. May more pro society programmes be held by the sangha,” he said.

Patrakartara sangha president Rons Bantwal presided over the programme. Bantara Sangha Mumbai convened S M Shetty education institutes former president Jayarama N Shetty was the chief guest. Karnatka Natak Academy drama artiste Mohan Marnad, Chittari Hospitality services LLC managing director Sadaram N Shetty were the guests of honor. Udayavani daily newspaper Mangaluru edition news division head Manohar Prasad delivered a speech, distributed new identity cards to members and wished them well.

“The sangha is progressing well in the interest of members under the leadership of Rons Bantwal. The sangha has plans for excellent schemes which I hope will be successful,” said Manohar Prasad. “The association is functioning in the way beneficial to the members. The success of the programme is due to the members. The gathering of a large number of members has made me glad. Let your support always be there,” said Rons Bantwal in his presidential address.



The guests honored Lawrence Coelho, Konkani Bhasha Mandal member for his achievements, artist Jaya C Salian, Limca record holder, Dr Dinesh Shetty Renjala, Hoogara award winner and newly married Ashok R Devadiga.

Association joint secretary Jayarama N Shetty, Dr G P Kusuma, advisory committee members advocate Rohini J Salian, Dr Sunita M Shetty, Gregory D Almeida, Surendra A Poojary, Pandith Navinchandra R Sanil, Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary, Sudhaker Uchil, advocate Kadandale Parari Prakash L Shetty, specially invited members advocate Vasanth Kalakote, S Dayanand Salian were present. Association advisory committee members, economic scholar Dr R K Shetty gave information on health and insurance of the members.

A silent prayer was held for late author Laxminarayan Alva and other departed journalists during the previous year. Association vice president Ranga S Poojary welcomed the gathering. Patrakartara Bhavan committee president Dr Shiva Moodigere gave an introductory address. Honorary treasurer Nagesh Poojary Elinje, executive committee member Vishwanath Poojary Niddodi, Dr Dinesh Shetty Renjala, Nagaraj K Devadiga and Anita Poojary Takode were introduced by Jayanth K Suvarna. Honorary chief secretary Ashok S Suvarna compered the programme. Honorary secretary Ravindra Shetty Talipadi rendered the vote of thanks.

The programme concluded after the National Anthem.
