Puttur, Aug 3: St Philomena PU College organized district level interschool competitions for high school students on Friday, August 2, at Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall.
The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamp.
President Fr Alfred J Pinto, correspondent said that talent is like a seed and so we should recognize it. He advised students to be humble and by being so they will be great.
The chief guest and inaugurator, Dr Shriprakash B, Prakash Dental Clinic, Darbe, advised students to develop discipline , planning and commitment which would help them to build their personality. He motivated the students to participate in all the activities and shape their future.
The guest of honour Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director and chairperson of PG studies said that students should develop culture. He further said that the respect that they draw out from their talent is praiseworthy when compared to other position.
Prof Leo Noronha, principal, St Philomena College, said that the students should make use of the opportunities available and exhibit their talents. He motivated students to participate and not to be worried about the criticism.

Jag Jeevan Das Rai, alumni president, Shashikumar Rai, PTA president, Oswald Rodrigues, headmaster of St Philomena High School, Fr Rithesh Rodrigues and Fr Sunil George wardens of boys’ hostel, and Sr Flora Machado, warden of ladies hostel, were present on the occasion.
About 34 high school students participated in various competitions like seminar presentation, clay modeling, best out of waste, pencil sketch, painting, science working model, launching a product, folk dance collage making and quiz.
Ashwin K, coordinator of Pratibha, coordinated the programme.
Fr Vijay Lobo, principal welcomed the gathering. Ashwini K, coordinator of Pratibha, proposed vote of thanks. Santhosh Clarence D'Souza compered the programme.
