Mumbai, Aug 8: Three under trials lodged in Thane jail for dacoity, escaped from the clutches of police on Tuesday while being taken to district court in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

On Tuesday morning the three under-trials, Jayram Dalvi (21), Ganesh Dalvi (20) and Martin Madha (30), who were lodged in the Thane prison, were transported to the district court in Dadra and Nagar Haveli for further custody. On their return to Thane court via Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway at Vasai, one of them complained of nausea and wanted to vomit. As the police van halted alongside the highway at Sativali, at around 8 pm, all the three undertrials, pushed the escort policemen and escaped in the cover of darkness.

The policemen tried to chase them, but in vain. The police escort team approached the Valiv police, who carried out a nakabandi and launched a search operation for the suspects in and around the locality. The Valiv police have also circulated photographs of the accused across police stations and on social media. The accused reportedly have cases of dacoity registered against them in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Gujarat.
