Kundapur: Konkan Kharvi Community Leader Vasudev Naik breathes His Last

Kundapur, Jun 17:  Leader of the Konkan Kharvi community and veteran activist in the field of folklores, Vasudev Naik (82) breathed his last on Sunday June 14, after a brief illness. He is survived by five sons and two daughters.

Naik worked hard for setting up and leading the state level award winning organization, Vidyaranga Mitr Mandali and Konkan Kharvi Mahajan Sangh. Through various articles, he had tried to pool the folklore literature of Konkani Kharvi community and put in efforts to conserve the folklore of the community that was facing the prospect of being destroyed.

He had been felicitated by Karnataka State Konkani Sahitya Academy with the folklore literary award. He had been leading a retired life, after working as the first division clerk in the judiciary.
