Mangaluru: No trains on Bengaluru route till August 11

Mangaluru, Aug 9: As rain continues to pound ghat area between Siribagilu and Subrahmanya Road railway stations and huge mounds of mud has got deposited on these tracks, suspension of movement of trains on Bengaluru route from Mangaluru has been extended to August 11.

Yedakumeri area near Siribagilu got 116 mm rainfall on Wednesday. Sand, boulders and trees totalling to 25,000 cubic metres have got deposited again on the tracks which were cleared earlier, making it impossible to resume movement of trains. Railway staff led by Mysuru divisional manager, Aparna Garg, along with labourers helped by earth moving machinery have been engaged in restoration work. This section of the tracks have been suffering landslides since the last one week.

Bengaluru - Kannur/Karwar express and Kannur/Karwar - KSR Bengaluru express trains will not operate on August 8, 9 and 10. Other trains moving on this route have also been cancelled till August 10.
