Udupi: Malpe to Get Fire Station Soon – Dr Acharya

Udupi, Jun 17: The state government will soon set up a fire station at Malpe, said home minister and district in-charge Dr V S Acharya.

He was speaking at inauguration of temporary fire station set up at Malpe on Tuesday June 16 on demand by fishermen of the area. The fire station at Malpe was a long-pending demand of the fishermen. Therefore land (green belt) under the fisheries department will be transferred to fire department on which the fire station will come up, informed Dr Acharya.

MP D V Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the fire station. He assured that all assistance to set up fire station will be extended in the coming days. MLAs K Raghupati Bhat and Lalaji Mendon, fire officer Shivappa Gowda, fisheries department deputy director Ganapati Bhat and port and fisheries department assistant director Harish Kumar were present.
