Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 17: The administrations of both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have reduced the bus fares with effect from June 22. This step comes after considering the repeated demands made by various organizations to reduce the fares subsequent to the cut in the diesel prices affected by the government-owned oil companies. The administrations said, in the interests of the general public, the revised fare now worked out, will be in force from June 22.

A release of the Regional Transport Authority comprising of the deputy commissioner of the district, superintendent of police and regional transport officer, have warned the bus owners to properly instruct their staff to collect the reduced fare from the above date. They have been warned of stern action in case of their failure to bring into effect the revised fare. Different charts of fare have been worked out for express, shuttle and city buses moving within Udupi and Mangalore.

The fare has been cut across the board at an average of 10.5%. While the minimum fare for the express, shuttles and Udupi city buses have remained the same, the minimum fare in the city buses and rural buses here has been brought down from four rupees to Rs 3.50.

These figures are only for reading purpose not for practice. Mangalore to Udupi fare is Rs.36, 10.5% less means Rs.3.78 which comes upto Rs.32.22 ~ 33 is ok. But these greedy bus owners will sure reduce it only to Rs.34. After that no authority will going to check this. Because its an open secret that they will get their share.
