Mangalore: Coastal District Record Good Rainfall

Mangalore, Jun 18: On Wednesday June 17, various parts of the state including the coast received good rains. Dharmasthala recorded 15 cm of rain, which is the maximum in the state. Southern and northern inlands too got rains.

In the coast, Shirali in Uttara Kannada district got 8 cms of rain while Panambur recorded four cms.  The city also received rain. While Honnavar, Karwar etc., got about 6 cms of rain each, the catchment areas of Linganamakki reservoir on which the hydel power generation of the state is heavily dependent on, did not get good rains. It recorded only 2 cm of rain.

The meteorological department has predicted that heavy rain coupled with thunder and lightning is likely in the next two days, in most of the coastal regions and some places in the hinterlands.
