B'lore: Chairmen of Boards, Corporations Expected to Resign En-masse on Jun 18

Bangalore, Jun 18: Chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has begun an elaborate exercise to quell the dissidence, by deciding to make appointments to the chairmanships of boards and corporations afresh. For this purpose, it has been decided to obtain en-masse resignations to posts from the chairmen of the state corporations and boards on Thursday June 17.

Several dissidents from the state BJP had complained to Arun Jaitley, in-charge of the state BJP affairs during his visit, that those loyal to the party had been sidelined while making these appointments. They had demanded for making these appointments afresh, by sacking the present incumbents.

Consultations are on, in respect of the issue of distributing the posts to legislators and activists of the party equally. Both Yeddyurappa and state BJP president Sadanand Gowda have reportedly given their nod to the demand that the names should be discussed at the high level committee of the party before   appointing them to head the corporations and boards.

Three legislators, who joined the party from outside, had been given chairmanships of boards and corporations. Out of them, Vartur Prakash has been shunted out. The post vacated by actress Shruti is also vacant.

Some of the chairpersons have enjoyed power for several months. However, in case of some, their appointments were made in March this year, and they could not enjoy the position because of electoral code of conduct that came into force at the time. Axe has fallen on them before they could firmly get saddled in their respective posts.
