Mumbai, Sep 5: Police officer Anand Bhoir, who was known for solving many complicated kidnapping cases, has been terminated from the police force after a departmental inquiry (DE) found several lapses in one of the cases he was investigating. Bhoir was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in January for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 25 lac from the brother of a man who was wanted in a case he was investigating.

Bhoir who was investigating a case of liquor seizure had allegedly threatened a liquor shop owner saying that an FIR will be filed against him and his brother and demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lac. The amount after negotiations was settled for Rs 22 lac, after which the liquor shop owner approached the ACB. Bhoir who took Rs 22 lac from the shop owner was caught by the ACB after a brief chase on January 1.

As reported in Mumbai Mirror, the enquiry report sates he also deliberately hid the case papers showing intentional lapses made by him in the investigation from his seniors. “As per the provisions of the Bombay Police (Punishment and Appeals) Rules, 1956, Bhoir has been removed from service.” Bhoir has solved a record 300 criminal cases during his three-year tenure at Andheri police station and has received over 150 rewards from the department for his work.

    LoL, every case presided, investigated, solved by him should be arguable. You wonder how often he's done that.......in any developed nation all the cases would be reinvestigated or open to debate.

    It is hard to fathom a Police officer who had solved many cases and awarded 150 times could get involved in corruption & possibly was trapped by somebody jealous of him . However if this is the only case , he needs to be given a lesser sentence and reprimanded & not terminated. May have considered slight leniency .
