British Airways pilot strike cause cancellation of flights from Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 10: Majority of British Airways flights, by the London-based airline, from Mumbai, got cancelled due to pilots strike on Tuesday. From Mumbai, British Airways operates 18 flights a week from Delhi to London.

"We have contacted customers over two weeks ago, who have been affected by the action - offering alternative options, including rebooking to a different date, travel on a different airline or a full refund," British Airways spokesperson said, as per TOI report.

A statement by British Airways says "Unfortunately, with no detail from BALPA (the airline's pilots union) on which pilots would strike, we had no way of predicting how many would come to work or which aircraft they are qualified to fly, so we had no option but to cancel nearly 100% of our flights."

It is reported that the strike may cause a bad impact on the student community because of the September intake across universities in the UK.
