Udupi: One crore Tulsi leaves offered to Lord Sri Krishna

Udupi, Sep 24: Under the leadership of Sri Vidyadeeshateerta Swamiji of Palimar Math, district Brahmin association and members of 28 zonal Brahmin associations offered a crore of tulsi leaves to Lord Sri Krishna at Sri Krishna Math in the city on September 22 for the betterment of the universe.

Around 2,800 vaidiks chanted Sri Vishnu Sahasranama four times and women sang Lakshmi Stotras in Pouli and Rajaangana of Sri Krishna Math.

Mahapooja was done by Sri Vidyadeesha Swamiji while Sri Pejawar Swamiji senior and junior, Sri Krishnapura, Sri Admar, Sri Sode, and Sri Palimar junior offered pooja to Lord Sri Krishna in Rajaangana as well as Pouli.

Tulsi petals which were offered to Lord Sri Krishna from the devotees were not only on from Udupi but also from many other places including, Bengaluru, Mysuru and Pandarapura.

After seeking the blessings of Lord Krishna, Pejawar Sree spoke on the importance of Sahasranama and explained the same to the devotees. He stated that Gita and Shasranama is what makes Mahabharata. He referred Gita to Krishnageetha whereas sahasranama as bhishmas way of remembering God through different names.

Bhishma used to chant ‘Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaaya,’ which means God solve all our problems. Sri Vishwapriya Swamiji chanted the same and wished that all the problems related to the country be resolved soon.

The entire programme was presided by Manjunatha Upadhyaya of district Brahmin association.

Palimar Swamiji on Importance of Tulsi

“Sri Krishna spread happiness not only to his mother Devaki but also to all his devotees. There is nothing in the world which can replace tulsi. So, anything we give, we offer tulsi with it. We believe that whenever we offer something with tulsi, it reaches lord. We used to offer lacs of tulsi on a daily basis to Sri Krishna. Even that offering has given us a fruitful result. Kashmir issue is resolved and we hope that Pakistan occupied Kashmir also comes under India in the coming days,” said Palimar Swamiji.
