Mangalore, Jul 26: In a bizarre incident, a teenaged-son committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his house after being upset over a debate on watching television with his father at Koyyur, Guddemane of Bappanadu in Mulky near here on Friday July 24 night.

The deceased has been identified as Tilakraj (17), a student of Mulky Government Pre-University College and son of Narayan, a packer in Mulky post office. It is said that Tilakraj and his sibling had an argument over watching television as usual on Friday night. Narayan who intervened in the matter admonished Tilakraj and asked him to concentrate on studies instead of watching television. Soon after that Narayan had retired for the day and Tilakraj too had gone back to his room.

However, when Tilakraj did not wake up till late Saturday morning, on pushing the door open he was found hanging from the ceiling of the house. A case has been registered in this regard.

Just for a dispute over watching a T.V. channel committing suicide! What a tragedy. Similar incidents r reported in other cities too. Hence, parents please be caucious while handling your children. Children also want entertainment which we help them to reduce their stress. Teach them how precious is life.

Its the same old story repeating itself. Few years back when a boy and his sister squabbled for a particular channel, & the boy in a rage hit his sister without realising his karate training would cause grievious injury to her, she collapsed & died. The boy tried to be innocent, but later cracked under questioning.

It reminds me of a similar incident which happenned in Mumbai last year same time. News was flashed Mumbai television all across a eight grade student committed suicide over a row with parents on watching television or playing cricket I dont remember exactly. Parents should be cautios nowadays, not like earlier times where we had many siblings.Single child 2 child fact makes children go wild over small issues because they are pampered somehow somewhere.
