Udupi, Jul 26: The devotees from all over the district flocked to their ancestral worship centres here on Sunday July 26, to offer puja on Nagara Panchami.

It’s a Tulunadu tradition and custom, to worship the idols of Naga in the ancestral worship centres on the occasion of Nagara Panchami. Despite modernity setting in and worship centres today are mostly housed in concrete structures of Naga Bana, in the few areas of the districts the traditional worship of Naga in the thickets known as bana in local parlance situated amid trees in the forests are carried out even today.

Both city and private bus stands were crowded with devotees who arrived to offer puja at their ancestral worship centres. As Nagara Panchami celebration this time fell on a weekend, the locals residing in other districts and all over the country availed the opportunity to be present for Naga worship along with their families.
