Bantwal: Police Arrest One in 17-year-old Case of Attempted Murder

Bantwal, Jul 26: The city police arrested a former associate of Sadhu Shetty on Sunday July 26, in Udupi, in a case of attempted murder that took place in 1992.

The arrested man is Haziz (38), a resident of Udupi. He was absconding after he had been granted bail in the case. 
The court issued an arrest warrant after he failed to appear in court. 

In the case, which was registered in 1992, the accused and four of his associates tried to kill a person by shooting him with a gun at the Sumangala Kalyana Mantapa in Panemangalore. The victim suffered serious injuries, but survived.

Sadhu Shetty, one of the notorious underworld dons then (later killed in an encounter by Mumbai police), was also booked as a conspirator in the case.

The police have got the death records of Dinesh Kamath, one of the accused, while the other three have still not been arrested.
