Kasargod: Well-known Obstetrician loses Life in Accident

Kasargod, Jul 27: Popular obstetrician from the town, Malini Saralaya (32), was killed in an accident that occurred late night on Saturday July 25 at Charladka near Nellikatte, Badiyadka. She was returning her home in Baradka, Badiyadka, after attending an emergency delivery case at night, as E K Nayanar Memorial Cooperaitve Hospital for which she worked, had requisitioned her services, after she went back home in the evening.

Malini from Kadri in Mangalore, had married Dr Srinidhi Saralaya ten years ago. She is survived by three children, including eight-month old daughter, Vaibhavi. She was working as obstetrician in two hospitals and had earned a name for herself because of her loving care and sympathy towards poor people. She also wrote a regular column on a local evening newspaper on gynaecological problems and health of women.

Reportedly, she spotted a cow in front of her car while returning, and in an effort to evade the animal, hit a roadside electric pole and also a stone wall. She was shifted immediately to a hospital in Mangalore but died early morning on Sunday July 26.

    Really a tragic end. A great loss to humanity, especially the people of Kasaragod and not to mention, her family too. She has an eight month old daughter. May her soul rest in peace and I pray that god give her family the strength to tackle this loss.
