Mangalore: Gokarna Mutt Swamiji Brands Devotees with Religious Signs

Mangalore, Jul 28: Head of Gokarna Partagali Mutt, Sri Vidyadhirajateertha Swamiji, who has been spending his four-month 'Chaturmasya' period this year, at Ammembal Sri Gopalakrishna Temple in Mudipu, presided over a programme of 'Tapta Mudradharane' held at the temple. Under the programme, Mutt's disciples hailing from both local villages and other places, lined up to get their bodies branded with the help of red-hot metal seals bearing religious signs, in Swamiji’s hands.



The next major programme the Swamiji will be presiding, is the felicitation programme for nine special invitees belonging to Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community on August 2, at a huge dais being erected for the purpose. The nine stalwarts, chosen because of their contributions to various fields, will be conferred with the title, 'Nava Ratnas (nine jewels)' by the Swamiji. Chaturmasya organizing committee expects thousands of people to attend this programme.
