Mangalore: Jail Inmates Fight Among Themselves - One Hurt

Mangalore, Sep 5: On Friday September 4 morning, inmates of the local sub-jail fought amongst themselves. One of them, named Ravi (23) from Shimoga, was injured in the incident.

It is learnt, the fight broke out on the issue of sitting on the platform located in room No.1 of the jail. The quarrel, initially started between Ravi, Ismail and Arif, spread to others in the jail and Moidin Bava and Iqual were involved with a fight between themselves. An inmate named Prakash Pinto reportedly created a gash in the neck region of Ravi with the help of a blade and the injury is not serious, jail sources said. Ravi from Shimoga district is facing the charge of theft.

It is learnt, the platform is not large enough to accommodate all the inmates of the jail. Out of the 40 inmates at present, only a few get to sit on the platform, it is gathered.

A case has been registered in Barke police station in this regard and those involved with the scuffle have been shifted to different rooms.
