Mangalore, Sep 5: Nine fishermen including one with serious injuries  were rescued when rough weather caught them off guard while they were returning from their fishing rounds in the Arabian sea on Saturday, September 5.

The injured  fisherman from Ullal  is reported to have swam his way ashore where he was picked up by locals and admitted to a  hospital in the city.

In a separate incident, the  Coast Guard  rescued 8 crew members of a boat named `Thank you Jesus’  of  Tamil Nadu.   Due to  rough weather , they were lost at sea but were luckily spotted by the  Coast Guard and were guided back to shore.
The fishermen after returning from the ordeal at sea  said that they had not expected the sea to turn so  dangerously rough.  Most of the boats that had moved into the sea on  Friday night got caught into the rough  conditions and  lost  control.
