'Karnataka State is Number One in Academic Achievements’


Bangalore, Sep 6 (DHNS): Karnataka today, is recognised as number one in the country for its academic achievements and education. This was stated by Union Minister Kapil Sibal. The credit of praise and appreciation goes to none other than teachers, said Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri. 

Kageri was speaking after inaugurating ‘State-level Teachers’ Day and Best Teacher Award’ presentation programme on Saturday at Siddarama Jambaldinni Rangamandir, organised jointly by the district administration, the Zilla Panchayat and the Department of Public Instructions.

He said, our State is being recognised, thanks to our teachers and I am proud of it. The Education Department is striving hard to give quality education for all students.

Many schemes

The Government introduced many schemes to improve the quality of education, may be uniforms, timely distribution of text books, formation of SDMCs, decentralisation system, adoption scheme, altogether a very conducive educational environment has been created in the State. Education must include only academics, it should also be source of self-confidence, love for country and should recognise talent and encourage the students.

Remedial teaching

Remedial teaching has been discussed and efforts are being made to include the same during school hours. Education in the present society, is required to create human values and the right the right of attitude. For the same, the State is spending Rs 8.5 crore.

District in-charge and PWD Minister C M Udasi released the handbook ‘Darpana’ for teachers on the occasion. Minister for Library and Small Savings K Shivanagouda Nayak and Dr D M Nanjundappa Committee Report Implementation Committee Chairman Shashil G Namoshi also spoke.

Sindhanur MLA Mr Venkatrao Nadagouda, MLC N Shankrappa, MLA Syed Yasin, State Khadi and Gramodyoga Board Chairman Shankaragouda Haravi, State Music and Drama Academy Chairman Wadwati Narasimhalu, ZP President Padmavathi M Earanna, CMC Chairman A Mareppa, Higher Education and in-charge Secretary A S Srikanth, Commissioner of Public Instructions Harish Gouda, Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana State Director Selva Kumar, Syed Abdul Rab, Gulbarga Divisional Commissioner S Devi Prasad, SP T R Suresh, ZP CEO Sameer Shukla, DDPI Amruth Bettad and others were present.
