Karkala: Belman Mahatma Prabhu Breathes His Last

Karkala, Sep 9: S Mahatma Prabhu (47), who had been working as the agent of a Kannada newspaper and was the owner of 'Prabhu Cream Parlour' at Belman in the taluk, breathed his last on Tuesday September 8, due to cardiac arrest. He was also the local distribution agent for the milk products of Karnataka Milk Federation.

Prabhu is survived by wife, a daughter and a son.  He had earlier functioned as the president of the Yuvajana Sabha of Belman Vithoba Bhajana Mandir and Belman Sports Club. He was also a member of Belman Jaycees. Prabhu had become popular because of his social service activities and his involvement with various organizations in the capacity of office bearer and also in school development activities.

Most of the shops in Belman downed their shutters as a mark of respect for the departed soul, on Tuesday. A number of his well-wishers visited the residence of the deceased to pay their last respects to Prabhu and to console the family members.
