Sullia: KVG Engineering College Professor Gets BARC Research Grant

Sullia, Sep 10: Bhabha Automatic Research centre (BARC) will be providing grant to the extent of Rs 14 lac to Dr Shivakumar Hosalike, head of the department of chemistry and research centre, KVG Engineering College here, for conducting research as proposed by him.

Dr Shivakumar has sought grants from BARC to conduct advanced research in the subject of the 'effect of radiation on physico-mechanical properties of bio-polymer blends and their drugs release behaviour'.

Under this project, Dr Shivakumar, during the next three years, will make 'bio-degradable polymer blend', test the effects of radiation on the blend, and conduct advanced study on the role of the blend in carrying the medicines to different parts of the body.

The research team comprises of Shiju N, Antony, Prasad B, Guru G S, Sunil Kumar Montadka, Bhavya B B, Shivamurty, Surekha M and Shyni M R.
