Udupi, Sep 10: A two day leadership and personality development workshop was kickstarted at the Manipal University (MU) on Wednesday, September 9 by Pro Chancellor Dr HS Ballal.

Striking a chord with the young audience by recounting anecdotes and jokes, Dr Ballal advised them to set their life’s priorities in the right order to succeed.

Talking on ‘leadership skills’ to students, in a lighter vein, he explained the difference between statesmen and politicians – as the politicians only look at the coming elections, but the statesmen would look at coming generations. “Your future is the future of this country” he told the young students inspiring them to think out of the box.

The program is being held for the fourth year in a row by the Mumbai based M R Pai Foundation in association with MU.  Late M R Pai was a well known consumer activist based in Mumbai and was very closely associated with legendary legal expert Late Nani Palkhivala. He was also closely associated with the governing council and board of management of the Manipal group of Institutions.

During the two-day programme, Vidyanand Joshi and Gowri Joshi, the resource persons from  Mumbai will be training students in areas such as Effective Communication, Goal Setting, Managing onself, Self Esteem, Team Work and Time Management. N Babanna from MU is co-ordinating the event which has participants from across the educational institutions in and around Manipal and Udupi.
