Udupi, Sep 12: Under the joint aegis of the department of public instruction of the district and Dandateertha Group of Educational Institutions, a throwball tournament was organized for both boys and girls at the playground of Dandateertha College ground in Kaup on Friday September 11. The tournament was inaugurated by former president of the District Cooperative Milk Producers Union, Kaup Diwakar Shetty.

Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that the tournaments like these instill sportsmanship spirit among the students and fortify their physical and mental strengths.

Kaup Dandateertha Group of Educational Institutions convener Dr Prabhakar Shetty presided over the inaugural. Taluk panchayat member Jagadish Acharya gave official initiation to the tournament.

Udupi block education officer D Manjunathaiah, district superintendent of physical education Seetanadi Vittal Shetty, taluk panchayat member Ramesh Hegde, Kaup Hosa Marigudi Temple managing trustee Ratnakar Shetty Nadikere, Taluk Physical Education Teachers Association president Seetaram Shetty, officials of the sports department and several others were present.

Dandateertha College principal Alban Rodrigues welcomed. Physical education teacher Prabhakar Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Shivanna Bayar presented the programme.
