Mumbai, Dec 24: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray discarded former CM Devendra Fadnavis' decision to build detention centres for illegal immigrants in Navi Mumbai's Nerul.

This move from Thackeray is a hint that his government will not be accepting centre's implementation of CAA and NRC in Mumbai.

Earlier in Assam over 19 lac people lost their citizenship after being the first state to implement NRC. The excluded lot has been given 90 days to appeal before Foreigner's Tribunals, if their appeals fail, they will be sent to detention centres.

On Monday, addressing party leaders at Sena Bhavan, Thackeray announced that under his reign he will not allow the establishment of detention centres.
