Mumbai, Dec 24: Chembur Karnataka Sangha celebrated its 16th annual ‘Sahitya Sahavasa 2019-20’ programme at its Shivaswamy auditorium on Sunday evening December 22. Maharashtra government cooperative, marketing and textiles department secretary Dr K H Govindaraj, chief guest said that social media has made people sluggish.

Advocate H K Sudhaker Arate presided over the programme. Annual Kannada Ratna award was conferred for 2019 upon the Indian administration service official, Karnataka literature and cultural scholar Dr C Somashekar. Excellent teacher award was conferred on retired teacher C S Ravindra, Subbayya Shetty charity award to issues and concerns editor Jayaram Sriyan, Arate Nagamma Sheshappa Poojary Memorial Award to veteran entrepreneur of Gujarat, social worker Jayarama Shetty Baroda.

Office bearers of the sangha were present. Karnataka University students, Chembur, ladies wing members of the sangha and other artistes performed dances. Students performed ‘Hakkihadu’ drama. Anita Shetty and Vijeta Suvarna compered the cultural programme.

The programme began with prayers by Bharath Shetty. Cultural committee secretary, Dayasagar Chowta welcomed everyone, introduced the awardees and compered the programme. Devadas K Shettigar rendered the vote of thanks.
