Army honours sepoy who died in avalanche


Srinagar, Feb 27 (IANS): The Indian Army paid tributes to Sepoy Karnail Singh, who died in an avalanche, in a solemn ceremony at the 15 Corps headquarters in Srinagar on Thursday.

22-year-old Sepoy Karnail Singh was deployed on forward post in the Gurez sector. On February 26 owing to a sudden avalanche he fell into a deep gorge. He was rescued and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar but later succumbed to his injuries.

Singh belonged to Changer Tarsooh village in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh. He is survived by his parents.
