Udupi, Nov 6: City lawyer and social worker William Pinto Shirtady was felicitated by district Red Cross Society secretary Dr Sharath Kumar at the annual convention organized by Sri Mata Amratanandamayi Seva Samiti at Sri Narayan Guru Community Hall, Malpe, near here, recently.
 
The veteran lawyer was honoured for his significant contributions in creating people’s awareness about Panchayat Raj as well as legal awareness about Land Tribunal Act among poor farm labourers and Dalit women through various speeches on AIR, visual media, and also hand books. 
 


Local entrepreneur Pramod Madwaraj, Mangalamrata Chaitanya, and Samiti members were present on the occasion.   
 
William Pinto has also been honoured in the past with the ‘Rajyotsav Award’ in 2004, life time achievement award, ‘Sandesha Special Award’, ‘Rachana Award’ and other rewards for his selfless service in reaching legal expertise to the poor across undivided Dakshina Kannada district.

    Mr. Shirthadi William Pinto, deserves these kind of appreciation.....I have seen him going to all villages and giving speeches on social awareness and he used to do these for no fee. Great person. Jai ho.
