Woman delivers baby in police van in Jammu city


Jammu, Apr 12 (IANS): A woman delivered a baby in a police van that came to carry her to hospital in Jammu city during the lockdown, police said on Sunday.

Police sources said the control room in Jammu city received a call on Saturday night that a pregnant woman was in labour in Channi Himmat residential area and needed to be immediately shifted to the hospital.

Acting promptly, a police party from the local police station reached the woman's residence and shifted her into a police van to take her to the hospital.

The woman gave birth to a baby en route to the hospital. After she reached the hospital, doctors said both mother and the baby were safe.
