Punjab identifies 17 coronavirus hotspots


Chandigarh, Apr 12 (IANS): The Punjab government on Sunday announced that 17 hotspots have been identified where testing with RT-PCR and rapid kits will be done extensively to identify coronavirus patients.

Out of 17 hotspots, eight are in Mohali district that so far saw 53 cases out of the state's total of 170.

Jawaharpur village near Dera Bassi town, some 20 km from here, in Mohali district saw two more coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the total cases of a family to 36 in just a week.

The other hotspots include two in Amritsar city and one each in Jalandhar and Ludhiana cities.

According to the state's health bulletin, there are 135 active cases in the state. The state so far saw 12 deaths and 23 patients cured.

Harpal Singh, sarpanch of Pathlawa village, as well as seven others from S.B.S. Nagar, tested negative multiple times for Covid-19 and were declared fully cured.
