COVID-19: Active cases 423 in Bengal


Kolkata, Apr 25 (IANS): With 40 new coronavirus cases reported over the past 24 hours in West Bengal, the total active cases in the state have shot up to 423, according to a Health Department bulletin on Saturday.

Two cured patients were released from hospital on Saturday. So far, 105 people have recovered in the state since the outbreak of the disease. The death count in Bengal is 18 so far.

On Friday, Chief Secretary Rajiva Sinha said 57 persons who tested positive have died in the state. However, the committee constituted to audit every COVID-19 death concluded that only 18 had died of the disease, while 39 others succumbed to co-morbidities.

According to the central government, 546 persons were infected with coronavirus in the state.
